Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Daron joined the film industry in 1990, working his way up the ranks assisting Academy Award-winning cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond on The Ghost and the Darkness, and Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Seamus McGarvey.
In 2001 he immigrated to the U.S. and joined the International Cinematographers Guild. Today, his critical eye and passionate sensibilities make him a well-sought-after feature film cinematographer and commercial TV Director / DP who moves seamlessly between commercials and features.
Daron built his career on film-set trenches, directing TV commercials for some of the most creative clients like Google, YouTube, Subaru, Toyota, Puma, Walmart, Royal Caribbean, Puppy Bowl, American Airlines, the Muppets and many more.
Daron offers his many clients his lifetime of real people — colorful experiences and stories that have taken him across the globe. In addition to his easygoing on-set optimistic approach, he has been told that his Los Angeles-based South African accent keeps clients happy on conference calls.
He thrives in a collaborative, creative and energetic environment where no two work days are exactly the same. Anyone who has worked with him knows he does not just get out of bed, he jumps out of bed.
For Daron filmmaking is more than just a job; it is his passion. His short film Ripple Effect won him recognition for First Place Best Cinematography at the international Cinematographers Guild Emerging Cinematographer Awards.
His film work on Laredo was the Boston Internationals Film Festival Best Cinematography Winner. His cinematography on the feature film Arizona Seaside was the FAIF International Film Festivals Judges Choice Award Winner.
