BIO
South African-born Daron Keet is a Los Angeles-based cinematographer who moves seamlessly between commercials and features. He spent many years working up the camera assistant ranks. He credits the films of Vittorio Storaro, Conrad L. Hall, Gordon Willis, Nestor Almendros, and Robert Richardson for his work's inspiration.
He enjoys collaborations that seek to capture those "lighting in a bottle", un-recreatable, organic moments. Working invigorates him; he approaches each job with renewed gusto, confidence and the determination to work at increasingly higher levels.
He relies heavily on technique to embellish, stylize and augment the most appropriate yet nuanced point of view. He embraces, utilizes and keeps abreast of all aspects of technology, and is particularly fond of weaving time-lapse and aerial cinematography into his work.
His latest webseries, MerriMe, won Best Comedy at the 2009 Independent Television Festival. His latest short film, Laredo, won Best Cinematography at the 2009 Boston International Film Festival. His feature work on Ripple Effect, starring Oscar winner Forest Whitaker, and Oscar nominees Virginia Madsen and Minnie Driver, won Best Feature at both the Boston International and Sedona Film Festivals. His feature Arizona Seaside won Best Cinematography at the FAIF International and Cinema on the Bayou Film Festivals. On the commercial front, his work for Parkview Health won the Gold Ring for Cinematography in Indianapolis.
However, his greatest accomplishments of all are his loving wife, Jessica, and his gorgeous kids, Ahava and Ilan. When he's not working you can find him spending time with his family, playing squash or trying not to lose money in the stock market.
